Welcome to Rising Sun AC web site

Rising Sun Athletic Club is based in the Rising Sun area of Ballinhassig Co.Cork. The club was founded in 1944. The club caters for mainly senior and masters athletes. Both female and male athletes are welcome in the club.

The club is strongest in track and field. Our athletes have won many titles at the National Masters championships.

Our middle and long distance athletes also compete in all the local road races.

Athletes of any standard are more than welcome in Rising Sun.

Rising Sun will hold the Paddy Desmond Memorial 4 mile road race in Ballinhassig on St.Patricks day
NOTE: This race is open to everyone. All entries on the morning of the race.

George Waugh had an other excellent run in Mallow on 7th February finishing an excellant 4th overall in a time of 54:39. Michael Kiely finished 1st O/65 in a time of 76:36. Eddie Mullane finished 2nd O/65 in a time of 82:35.

Well done to George Waugh who finished an excellent 9th in the Dungarven 10 on 31st of January in a time of 55:06:00

The All-Ireland Masters were held on January 24th in Nenagh. Brendan Dennehy had a very sucessful day out winning the 60M,200M,LJ and HJ. Con Donovan won 5 medals winning the 60M,200M,400M,LJ and 3rd in the shot. Michael O'Herilhy had a third place in the shot. Donncha Dennehy was 1st in the HJ and 2nd in the LJ.
